I'm about to move out of my posh League City mansion and rent an apartment.  My Valkyrie will be homeless.  Public Storage has a nice option at 59 and Greenbriar for $70/month.  This would be fine, but they lock the gates at 9:00 PM.  That would definitely cramp my style in the summer months.

Are there other apartment dwellers that have this problem?  Any good solutions or ideas?

Thanks to you all!

Is the apartment you are moving to in a bad area where you fear theft? All I used is a bike cover and kept it in the parking space in front of my apartment. I lived in a crappy apartment on the south loop and a few times i forgot to even take the key out of the bike and it was just fine the next day. I never even had anyone dig through through my bags. If money is not a problem, then renting a storage for it would be a good idea to keep the bike out of the rain (but so does a good cover). The place you mentioned rates are too high for the average... shop around.

If you are storing it for the season or for an indefinate period, you can probably fit it in a 5x10 non climate controlled space. Probably cost about $50 a month or less. I'm only paying $97 for a 10x10 garage at my storage place.  There are some places with 24hr access. I have used  security self storage on south main  before, its a nice place, good security, and it is 24 hour access.

Thanks for the tip!  The $70 unit at 59/Greenbriar is a 5x10.  The nice thing about that one is that it will be close to my apartment.  I'm not gonna leave it outside even with a cover.  It would never forgive me!

;-)

I'll look into the place on S. Main.  Might be worth the drive if I can have 24 hour access.  Maybe cheaper too!

Thanks!

I kept mine under a carport and under a car cover for two years. I used the useless fork lock and I had a disk brake lock on her. The worst things that happened were a homeless guy left a T-shirt on her and a cat peed on her. My cover was lockable, but I never used that option. If you make it hard to take something, most thieves will move along. If someone REALLY wants your bike, they'll get it.
